Gaston Sirino Wants Out of Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns winger, Gaston Sirino, wants to leave the club.
That’s according to head coach Rhulani Mokwena, who revealed the news during a recent interview with Power FM.
“That’s what he’s told the club [that he wants to leave],” explained Mokwena. “He said to me that I must wait for an offer, that there is an offer that is coming and that was three weeks ago.”
So far, the unidentified club that’s apparently eyeing Sirino – who has two years left on his current contract at Sundowns, with whom he renewed his contract in 2020 after his transfer to Egyptian outfit, Al Ahly, was blocked – has yet to table an offer.
“They haven’t made an offer and that’s why we are waiting … The club can never do anything if there is no offer.”
Despite not playing a single game this season yet, Mokwena reckons that the 32-year-old Uruguayan has “had the best pre-season [campaign] since I’ve come back to Mamelodi Sundowns, this year.”
“But there are a lot of things that are happening in that space with Sirino and it’s not for the first time … It’s a space that is so sensitive because this thing of tapping up players is a big thing, and this is the third time now that Sirino is being tapped up.”
